About the Program
The University of Findlay’s Echocardiography program prepares students to become highly skilled, patient-centered cardiac sonographers through an intensive, full-time educational experience that combines rigorous academics, extensive laboratory training, and immersive clinical education.
Designed to meet the demands of today’s healthcare environment, the program emphasizes cardiac imaging, critical thinking, professionalism, and clinical competency. Students complete foundational didactic coursework, specialty-focused echocardiography education, and over 1,400 hours of supervised clinical experience to ensure graduates are workforce-ready and prepared for professional credentialing.
UF’s structured program model allows students to complete all major didactic and pathology coursework prior to full-time clinical education, strengthening confidence and preparedness before entering the clinical setting.
Please note: The Echocardiography program begins in the summer semester only.

Admissions Requirements
Admission to the University of Findlay Echocardiography program is competitive and based on academic performance, completion of prerequisite requirements, and availability of clinical placements. Students are admitted once per year with a summer semester start.
- Submit all application materials by the January 1 deadline
- Be admitted to the University of Findlay
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
- Complete all prerequisite coursework with the required minimum grades
- Submit official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended
- Complete a minimum of 8 professional observation hours, including 4 hours in General Sonography and 4 hours in Echocardiography
- Submit a completed Patient Confidentiality Agreement
Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission, as placement capacity within clinical education sites is limited.

The University of Findlay Sonography Programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon recommendation of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS).
