Our program gives you a clear path to medical school with a strong foundation in the natural sciences and humanities. Experienced faculty, flexible coursework, one-on-one advising, and hands-on research opportunities ensure you’re fully prepared for medical, dental, optometrist, physician assistant, or chiropractic school. We’ve built our program around what schools are looking for.

Your Path at Findlay is Straightforward

  • Complete major coursework in your first three years to prepare to take the MCAT
  • Take the MCAT in the spring of your junior year 
  • Apply to medical schools in the summer between your junior and senior year

Course Requirements

Our curriculum consists of required courses grounded in college writing, organic chemistry, biodiversity, and social sciences. The Biology curriculum is intentionally aligned to provide students with all prerequisite coursework required for entry into medical and other healthcare professional programs, while also preparing them for success on entrance examinations and related professional assessments.

Careers

The Biology – Pre-Med Emphasis at the University of Findlay prepares students for admission to medical school and a wide range of careers in healthcare and the life sciences. With a strong foundation in biology, chemistry, and related sciences, students develop the academic preparation and hands-on experience needed for success in competitive medical and professional programs. 

Graduates pursue admission to professional school and careers such as:

Clubs and Activities

There are many opportunities outside of the classroom to get involved in the University of Findlay’s Pre-Medicine club, including:

  • An annual trip to the Ohio Medical Education Day (OMED). OMED is a forum sponsored by medical colleges in Ohio where students interested in medical schools have the opportunity to meet and hear from current medical students, deans of medical schools, and recruiters.    
  • Coordinate pre-health professional speakers to come to campus for Q&A sessions on programs such as optometry, dentistry, medical, etc. 
  • Provide information and resources for success in entering a professional program in many different disciplines.
