Overview

About the Team

Members of Findlay’s Ranch Horse Team compete in American Ranch Horse Association (ARHA)-recognized shows. Each member earns points toward their individual total.

An individual ARHA membership is not required. Team members can compete through the University of Findlay’s membership. Competitors participate as individuals against open exhibitors. Those under age 21 compete in the junior division, while those 21 and older compete in the adult division.

Team members who are not equestrian majors should consider renting a tack locker at the Western Barn.

Cost and Expenses

Team members pay $50 in dues each semester. The University of Findlay sets this fee as part of its club fees.

Tryouts

Team tryouts take place during the first few weeks of September. Riders must wear a long-sleeve shirt, jeans and western boots. Each rider will ride one of the University of Findlay’s school horses during the tryout.

Practices

The team practices twice a week, with members required to attend at least one practice. An optional practice takes place on Sundays.

Throughout the year, the team hosts fundraisers to help offset competition costs.
