Findlay’s IHSA Hunt Seat team competed at the Zone 6 finals in Midway, Kentucky on April 7th, 2019. Having qualified to send a team from their outstanding performance at Regionals, they finished with 37 points, placing 3rd in the zone. Two students, Alexa Sendro competing in Intermediate Equitation​ and Kaylyn Cole competing in Novice Equitation on the Flat, were crowned champions of their individual divisions and have qualified to compete at nationals. They will be traveling to Syracuse, NY for the IHSA Hunt Seat National Competition held at the Exposition Center on May 2 – 5, 2019. Congratulations to Findlay’s IHSA Hunt Seat team on their success in the 2019 season!


 

 


Competition Results


​Congratulations to the IHSA Hunt Seat team for their success in the 2019 season! Ending the regular season as the Regional Champions for the 19th consecutive year, the Oilers went on to have a great showing at the Regional tournament with riders placing first in five divisions and second in four divisions, and sending a team to the Zone Finals. At Zones, they placed 3rd with 37 points, with two Findlay riders moving onto nationals. 9/22 Randolpf College Pre-Season Tournament

The Oilers sent two teams to the Pre-Season Tournament of Champions at Randolf College where they placed 10th and 11th out of 15 teams.


9/28-29 Horse Show at University of Findlay

On Saturday the University of Findlay was Highpoint Team with 37 points, out of eight teams.  On Sunday the University of Findlay was also Highpoint Team with 30 points, out of eight teams.

Congratulations to Meghan Moran who was High Point Rider on Saturday, as well as to Jessie Hood and Kira Bidwell, who were in a three-way tie for High Point Rider on Sunday, and Jessie Hood finished Reserve High Point Rider.

Regional qualifiers include: Meghan Moran – Intermediate Equitation on the Flat, and Kaylyn Cole – Novice Equitation Over Fences.

11/17-18 Horse Show by Thiel College at Ohio University
On Saturday, Nov. 17, Findlay was the Highpoint team with team member Kaylyn Cole as the Highpoint rider and team member Lizzie Lengling as the Reserve Highpoint rider. On Sunday, Nov. 18th Findlay was the Reserve Highpoint team with team member Hannah Tiso as the Reserve Highpoint rider. Congratulations to the following riders who qualified for Regionals in their categories:

12/2 Holiday of Champions Invitational at Otterbein University
Findlay took two teams to the invitational, with their first team placing 9th & their second team placing 14th, out of all 16 teams that competed. Individual awards were received by several Findlay students. A High Medal was awarded to Payton McClintock (10th of 17) and Low Medal’s were awarded to Jessie Hood (3rd of 17) and Meghan Moran (4th of 17).

1/26 Winter Classic II Tournament of Champions at the University of Mary Washington
This event was canceled due to inclimate weather.
2/9-10 Lake Erie College Winter Show I & 2
The IHSA Hunt Seat Team started off spring semester strong earning Reserve Champion Team in both the first and second show. Findlay rider Lizzie Lengling was Highpoint Rider both days while Alyssa Simin tied for Reserve Highpoint Rider on the 9th and Julie Hood tied for Reserve Highpoint Rider on the 10th. Congratulations to the following for their advancement in the field:

2/16-17 Horse Show at University of Findlay
In the last two shows of the Regular season.  Findlay was Highpoint Team both days, 36 points Saturday and 28 points Sunday, winning the Region for the 19th consecutive year.

Saturday – Emma Price was Highpoint Rider & Alyssa Simin was Reserve Highpoint Rider
Sunday – Payton McClintock was Reserve Highpoint Rider

3/2 - IHSA Hunt Seat Regional Tournament

The team had a great showing at the regional tournament, with riders earning first place in five divisions. The top 2 placed riders in each division will move on individually to Zone 6 Finals in Lexington, KY at Midway University on Saturday, April 6th. 12 riders from the regional tournament compete in the Zone 6 Finals, and Findlay riders filled 8 of these 12 spots. The University of Findlay will also send a team of 8 riders to this competition.
