About the Program

University of Findlay’s Finance program prepares students to make informed financial decisions that drive organizational success. Understanding cash flow, return on investment (ROI), and financial risk is essential. This program equips students with the analytical and interpersonal skills needed to navigate those challenges. 

Students earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Finance Emphasis, developing expertise in financial analysis, economic principles, and strategic decision-making. Through coursework in areas such as financial statement analysis, corporate finance, and public and governmental finance, students learn to evaluate financial performance, forecast outcomes, and identify potential risks. The program emphasizes both quantitative skills and effective communication, preparing graduates to interpret complex financial data and present actionable insights. Students also can transition seamlessly into the University of Findlay’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) program to further advance their careers.

Hands-On Experience

Finance students gain real-world experience through internships, the student-managed Investment Club, and the James & Patricia Appold Investment Trading Room. The resources in the Trading Room can be used to analyze securities, manage investment portfolios, and apply financial concepts in real-world scenarios.

This student-led club provides hands-on investment experience through the management of a student-run investment fund. Members gain exposure to a wide range of securities, including equities, fixed-income instruments, and financial derivatives, while developing practical skills in portfolio management and investment analysis.

The University of Findlay Oiler 10 is a student-run consulting agency. Oiler 10 works with a variety of clients to give expert advice and accelerate their business in any way needed. The agency is held to the highest standards, delivering quality solutions to existing companies.

Delta Mu Delta is the exclusive business honor society recognized by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) that recognizes and encourages academic excellence of students at qualifying colleges and universities to create a Delta Mu Delta community that fosters the well-being of its individual members and the business community through lifetime memberships.​

The University of Findlay College of Business and Humanities Dana Chair/Scholar Program provides business students the opportunity to connect higher education with the real world of business. Dana Scholars are chosen each semester by the College of Business and Humanities faculty and are recognizes as outstanding students for their academic and leadership skills. Dana Scholars network with and learn from an area business professional who serves as the Dana Chair for the academic year.

The University of Findlay Organization for the Empowerment of Business Oriented Women seeks to empower business-oriented females by promoting networking, education, and opportunities between any interested students and outstanding industry professionals. 

CFA Institute Affiliated

​The University of Findlay’s Finance Emphasis program is recognized as a CFA Institute Affiliated University by CFA Institute. Recognition as a CFA Institute Affiliated University signals to students, employers, and the marketplace that the finance curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well-suited to preparing students to sit for the CFA examinations.  The University of Findlay’s partnership with the CFA Institute provides access to scholarships that help alleviate the cost of sitting for the CFA exam. 

The CFA designation represents an internationally recognized standard of excellence in investment management.
