Japanese

University of Findlay’s Japanese program prepares students to communicate effectively in Japanese.

About the Program

The University of Findlay’s Japanese program prepares students to communicate effectively in Japanese while gaining a deep understanding of the culture, society, and global impact of Japan. Designed for students interested in using language skills in a wide range of careers, the program emphasizes practical communication, cultural immersion, and real-world application.

Students can pursue a bachelor’s degree in Japanese, a multi-age (K–12) teaching licensure program, or a minor, allowing flexibility based on career goals. Instruction focuses on developing speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills through interactive coursework and hands-on experiences both inside and outside the classroom. With strong connections to Japanese institutions, businesses, and the local Japanese community, students have opportunities to study abroad, complete internships, and engage with native speakers. Graduates leave the program prepared to use Japanese as a professional skill in global and multicultural environments.
