Admissions
Admissions Requirements
Acceptance to the Nursing Program is competitive with priority given to students admitted to the University of Findlay with the admission status of Early Assurance into the Nursing Program. In addition, University of Findlay students are given priority over transfer students.
Upon admission to the University, students may declare the major of nursing and schedule courses to complete the nursing prerequisites. After admission to and enrollment in the University, students will need to be formally accepted into the Nursing Program. All students (including transfer students) will be considered for acceptance into the Nursing Program by the Department of Nursing on a competitive basis. Students applying to the Nursing Program may not transfer courses from other institutions to meet the requirements of nursing courses.
Transfer students may be required to submit course syllabi or descriptions for evaluation before previously earned credits are considered for transfer. Courses will be evaluated by the University’s Office of the Registrar. A minimum grade of “C” (a “C-” is not acceptable) must be earned to receive credit for transfer courses.
Upon admission to the University, transfer students may declare the major of nursing and schedule courses to complete the nursing prerequisites. After admission to the University, students will need to be formally admitted to the Department of Nursing to take the first clinical nursing course which is scheduled for the spring semester of the second year of the nursing curriculum. All students (including transfer students) will be considered for admission into the Department of Nursing on a competitive basis.

Health records will be shared between Cosiano Health Center and the Department of Nursing at the direction of the nursing student, as necessary for nursing student files to be eligible to complete their clinical experience.

Hands-On Experience
Study Abroad at Fukui Prefectural University (FPU) Exchange
- At Findlay, nursing students do not have to sacrifice graduating on time in order to experience cultural diversity abroad. Through the Fukui Prefectural University (FPU) Exchange, they have the opportunity to study material relevant to their future profession on an international scale. University of Findlay’s partnership with FPU in Japan states that FPU will send one non-nursing student to the University of Findlay for one full year at no cost to the student, and in exchange, Findlay will send one instructor and up to six nursing students to FPU for three weeks in the summer.
Program details:
- Open to all nursing students
- Three-week experience during the summer
- Attend nursing classes, labs, and meetings
- Provide presentation to FPU students and faculty
For more information about the program, application deadlines, or to access the application, please contact Dr. Jessica Ellerbrock at jessica.ellerbrock@findlay.edu.
