Findlay's art major offers a comprehensive variety of courses that are centered on studio practice and art history. Students interact closely with faculty and choose an area of focus in ceramics, painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, or photography.​

Program Highlights

Art majors have the opportunity to visit nationally-recognized museums and galleries through study trips abroad, annual art program trips to New York City and Chicago, and class trips to museums such as the Toledo Museum of Art​ and the Detroit Institute of Art.​

The Dudley and Mary Marks Lea Gallery provides opportunities for art students to participate in the organization, preparation, installation and evaluation of shows. The Lea Gallery presents eight to ten exhibitions throughout the year, including works by students, faculty, and regional and national artists.  Students engage with exhibiting artists through gallery talks, classroom demonstrations, and public presentations. 

Senior art majors participate in capstone coursework that includes career preparation, a senior exhibition, and professionally-oriented individualized study in their area of emphasis.  Students also have opportunities to participate in juried exhibitions, both on and off campus, including the annual University of Findlay Juried Student Art and Design Exhibition.

Many of our students are just as creative with their career paths as they are in the studio.  They choose to add a second major in these areas:
