The nursing faculty accepts up to 30 students annually into the nursing program. This is a traditional BSN program that begins in the sophomore year and is completed in five semesters. Graduates of the program are eligible to sit for the National Council of State Board Nursing Licensure Examination-Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN) in whatever state the student resides after graduation. The program has classroom, lab, and clinical components. Clinical rotations occur in a variety of settings such as acute care hospitals, long-term care, rehabilitation, and community agencies. In addition to clinical rotations, students will learn and practice nursing skills in the nursing simulation lab. Classes are held in the classroom and online. Experienced faculty will advise, mentor, and teach students throughout the program.
Nursing is a noble profession that is highly valued by the public as one of the most trusted professions. Nurses work with individuals, families, and communities across the life span in a variety of healthcare settings. Nurses are leaders in healthcare, advocating for patients, and developing health policy. A career in nursing has great flexibility, allowing nurses to work in management, education, and public health areas. For those who desire to advance their education, the BSN degree provides an entry into graduate school for areas of focus, such as nurse anesthetist, nurse practitioner, nurse midwife, clinical nurse specialist, clinical nurse leader/administrator, and nursing educator. Our program has full approval from the Ohio Board of Nursing (OBN) and is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
