College of Sciences Dean's Circle

This is an advisory group of students acting as the face and voice of the students of the College of Sciences, serving as student ambassadors, and to assist the college and dean at events. Membership in this group is aligned with the goals of the UF strategic plan to invite students to be part of a diverse community, to engage the students, and to include them in running the college.

Participation includes a monthly meeting with the dean and serving as needed.

Criteria for membership:

  • Students must be in good academic standing.
  • They must be willing to stand up and communicate with a diverse audience.
  • They are nominated by their departments.
  • Each department is asked to provide two student representatives.
  • It is preferable that one student from each department is neither a first-year student nor a senior.
  • Each student serves as long as they are at UF or until they resign their membership.
  • A student is subject to removal from the group if they are unable to attend for a whole semester (unless they are registered off-campus).

Nominations are accepted by the dean in August and when there is an open position. The leadership role of the student members will be recognized by a letter from the dean after the students have served.

Bryan, Gary – Computer Science

Hello, my name is Grant Bryan! I am a commuter from Leipsic, Ohio, and I am a junior from the Computer Science department. My emphasis areas include Computer Systems and Data Analytics, with a minor in Information Design and Management. After graduation, I am striving to enter the IT field and work my way to becoming a Database Administrator in the Ohioan area. As you can see, I love myself some tech! Whether it be building a program in a variety of languages, exploring and workings with the intimacies of a variety of OSs, or, my favorite, maintaining and developing databases, I find myself intrigued and invested in a computer's ways. I also very much value integrity and work ethic and am glad the University pushes for its students to strive for these core values. I currently am apart of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) as its treasurer and a member of the local Aristos Eklektos Honor Society and Choose Ohio First. I also dabble in Dr. Pollele's unofficial board game club, because one can never stop enjoying some simple competitive fun every once in a while!

When I am not doing chemistry I am usually reading or playing video games.
