Our mission is to provide support to all English Language Learners on campus to help them become confident writers, speakers, and successful students.
The ELL Support Center provides a wide variety of services for any student whose native language is not English. Our goal is to provide cultural and linguistic support for our students.
This support includes assistance writing papers, conversation practice, help with MLA and APA documentation, strategies for test-taking, assistance reading academic texts, and assistance preparing to give classroom and other presentations.
In addition, the Center offers a comprehensive library with different levels of reading material that students can borrow at any point.
We encourage our students to sign up for any of our workshops that are held throughout the academic year. These workshops cover topics like:
- APA and MLA Documentation
- Making American Friends
- How to adjust to American Dorm Life
- Strategies for Communicating with Professors
When you come to the ELL Support Center, we encourage you to bring the following materials:
- Notes from class
- Prior drafts of your work
- Printed copies of your work
- Rubrics of assignment descriptions
- Related textbooks

"The ELL Support Center is helpful for international students. Last semester, I could not get all A's without the help of the center. The tutors were so nice to me. They explained things to me that I did not understand until I understood. I learned a lot of things that were not only academic English but also everyday English from the center. When I did not have any plans, I went there and enjoyed conversation with the tutors and students from other countries. I gained some new friends. I really thank the ELL Support Center."
